Eighteen years.
That's how long I spent as a registered nurse — in med-surg units, labor and delivery, post-op recovery, home health, and corrections. Eighteen years of long shifts, hard floors, and caring for people in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
Nursing teaches you things no classroom ever could. It teaches you to pay attention. To ask why. To look past what something claims to be and focus on what it actually does.
That habit followed me home.
And one day I turned it on my own skincare routine — and I didn't like what I found.
Just a nurse, reading labels.
I wasn't having some dramatic skin crisis. I was just a nurse doing what nurses do — reading labels.
What I found in my own products stopped me cold. Ingredients I recognized from clinical settings being used in everyday skincare. Long lists of synthetics and fillers with no real benefit to the skin. Products marketed as "natural" that were anything but.
As a nurse I understood skin as an organ — not just a surface you wash and moisturize. I understood absorption, inflammation, and how the body responds to what it's exposed to daily. And I knew that what we put on our bodies matters more than most people realize.
I started researching cleaner alternatives. Then I started formulating my own. I tested everything on myself first — because that's just the nurse in me. You don't recommend something you haven't evaluated yourself.
What I created worked better than anything I had been buying. So I kept going.
